Working in both watercolour and acrylic, I continue to explore new
concepts and techniques in order to achieve light and texture in my
work, attempting to generate a strong and positive emotional
response from the viewer.
My works in watercolour range from realism to complete
abstraction. Always, I simplify the representational images and
focus on bringing forth light, atmosphere and mood. I often use
negative backgrounds to push up the value and create depth.
My acrylic works are usually more abstracted, although the design
usually is inspired by an idea or a favoured theme. Sculpting with
plaster to create texture, I then work quickly and instinctively with
total freedom. The work develops spontaneously and color and
value create light and depth. With no recognizable symbols, the
viewer is encouraged to respond with a personal interpretation of
the work.
