Stephen Rothwell
I work as a representational artist in a loose style that I refer to as “impressionistic realism”. The subject matter I paint varies greatly, but regardless of the subject I try to create a mood in the painting to evoke an emotional response in the viewer. I believe that watercolour with its subtle colour, its value gradations and unexpected juxtaposition of colour is the perfect medium for this.
